Noted plagiarist/alleged artist Frank Shepard Fairey was arrested in Boston on a couple of old outstanding warrants. Most recently, he's been under fire for making serious bucks off his "Obama" posters, which plagiarized an AP photo, and giving the AP, which owns the original photo, the finger.
So, in an ironic tribute, here's my rendering of FSF's arrest photo. I'm not making any money off this and the original photo's credit- Boston police booking image of Frank Shepard Fairey courtesy Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

You're an ignorant fucking douchbag.
I listened to your ridiculous swill just because I was bored and needed a good laugh and thank you for providing it. Your rant about the "liberal media" that won't leave poor Joe the Plumber alone, digging into his background, was priceless.
Considering that YOUR boy McCain was the one who brought him up 21 times in the debate, your protests that it was the liberal media who dragged poor Joe into the spotlight are pretty weak.
But you couldn't stop there. Oh no. Just because you're totally fucked in the head and no amount of tinfoil could stop the whacka-whacka batshit from flowing from your mouth, you took it just a little bit further.
You righteously raged about the evil media digging into Joe's background while weeping and gnashing your teeth about how Barack Obama is being given a pass for being a ticket scofflaw from his days as a student here at Harvard and how the major media are ignoring Barack's blatant flaunting of the law. Oh yeah, you ranted about how the only paper to cover the story was your employer, the Boston Herald.
Well, Howie old boy, for someone who's supposed to be in the know, you're pretty fucking clueless. Either that or you've joined the ranks of curmudgeons whose gin-soaked brains have ceased to function. Because if it was working, you'd remember that Obama PAID those fines when he decided to launch his campaign.
Ah, but it gets better, you washed-up old hack. "Not covered by the mainstream media"?
I beg to differ.
CNN.com Reuters news wire Slate.com Wonkette.com
And your favorite paper, the Boston Globe.
I could dig up more, but you know what- it's a non-story. Obama decided to run for president and made sure he was right with The Man and found out he had some old parking tickets, which he settled up, end of story. The press and public had a few good laughs over it and we moved on.
But not you. Oh no. This story broke in March and it's still sticking in your craw. Hey, we know there's no other stories out there, so we can forgive you for obsessing on it. And we know that pesky little things like facts can be a real motherfucker. It's much easier just to spew random bullshit with no regard to the truth. Your take on Obama's tax plan almost made me piss myself. I'd love to know where you came up with the beauty that Obama's tax policy, which will give tax breaks to 95% of taxpayers, won't do anything because 95% of taxpayers already don't pay taxes.
Oh really????
Stop it, you withered fucking hack, you're killing us here. You should have been at that dinner in NYC sharing the stage with Obama and McCain. You are just too goddamn much. |

As expected, in his kiss-off to Manny, the Curly Haired Boyfriend aka Dan Shaughnessy, repeated the slander about Manny going up against Mo Rivera with no intention of swinging. What's that about repeating lies often enough? Wonder if he'll be rebuked the way the Sox rebuked Lobel.
Meanwhile, every team in the AL east is rejoicing over Manny's departure. Why? Because, as one GM put it in an ESPN interview:
"Don't get me wrong," said an executive of one AL East club. "The Red Sox do a great job. They utilize every advantage they have, and they use all their resources as well as anyone. But sometimes, I don't think even they realized what they had in Manny. When Manny comes up, you feel like you have to pass out ex-lax to your whole team because everybody gets a sick feeling in their stomach -- especially when he had [David] Ortiz there in the middle with him.
"Look, Jason Bay is a great player. But he's not Manny. You're talking about one of the greatest right-handed hitters in the history of the game. I've seen so many situations where you'd think you've got a game, and then all of a sudden that guy came up and everything changed. I've seen what he does to pitchers. I've seen how he changes games. They'll miss that. That's all I can say."
Meanwhile, in non-Manny news....
And Hizzoner Menino has ordered a crackdown on street performers outside Fanieul Hall. Seems they were making too much racket, disturbing him from his mayoral duties and ruining the ambience at the nearby Houston's chain restaurant. So officials were ordered over to the place where back during colonial days colonists gathered to protest against their British overlords and crack down on street performers, erecting steel crowd control barricades to herd them into a pen.
All this done without the slightest bit of irony.
Yup, Boston, you're my home. |

[Jul. 31st, 2008|08:15 pm] |
Well, Theo Epstein just got totally butt-raped by both the Dodgers and the Pirates. Nice....
He gets rid of the pain in his ass Manny, gives away a valuable middle reliever when the Sox are clearly hurting in that department, a decent outfield prospect, and a couple of draft choices. Oh..... Theo threw in $7 million to pay off the rest of Manny's contract for the year.
In return they get 1 player whose contract expires the end of next season and is represented by .... duh duh DUHHHH..... the evil Scott Boras.
Ok, Manny became a huge distraction. But in thinking about it... everyone's blaming the Sox's recent woes- woes that have them OMFG DOOOM DOOOOM DOOOOM 3 (or is it 4) whole games out of first place and PANIC PANIC PANIC PANIC PANIC "only" 2 months left in the season.
Yeah, I can understand why Sox Nation is feeling fucked and ready to blow their brains out. The season is fucking over, right? No way anybody's ever come back from being 4 games down on July 31st to win their division or hold onto a lead for the wild card spot. I can see why Sox Nation- supposedly the most knowledgeable of fans anywhere in the universe- felt the season was in the toilet and we might as well just wait 'til next year.
And of course, Manny was blamed for everything from the Sox almost being no-hit the other night to spreading athlete's foot in the shower. Yeah, like the rest of the Sox were lighting it up against the Angels. And Manny has so distracted this otherwise sterling hard-core group of professional athletes that Tek is hitting about .215, Beckett forgot to back up home plate, and the Sox have been running around like the Bad News Bears on the field, minus Walter Matthau chugging down beers. All Manny's fault and if only he shut the fuck up and hustled 1000% every play, the rest of the team would have snapped to as well.
Yup, all Manny's fault.
For what?
Ok, let's say it was Manny's fault the Sox lost to the Yankees because he pulled himself out of the lineup a 2nd straight game.
Let's see how many games will be lost because Ortiz is going to get the bat taken out of his hands and be intentionally walked 1 trillion times the rest of the season. Or when Bay misplays a ball in the very tricky left field at Fenway.
Yeah, Manny punched his ticket, but what happened.... well, how many years did the Yankees suck up Reggie Jackson's shit? Was it worth it? Ummm, how many World Series did the Yanks win with Jackson?
Same question with Manny.
I read on one of the bulletin boards someone ask "what's the goal in baseball- winning games or being a model citizen?" And on EEI someone called in with much the same point- John Henry (Sox owner) only cares about the bottom line and that's winning and that's why he put up with Manny's shit. And someone else asked why not just ignore Manny- let him rage. Realize he's not going to leg out every single ground ball and that on rare occasions, it will cost the Sox. Yeah, these are offenses to the purity and spirit of the game. But when the bottom line is who wins 4 games in the World Series, well, you have to ask yourself- or would have- who would get you there?
Let's hope Bay can step in and hit the ground running. Oh, and let's hope that in a year Boras isn't coming to the Sox demanding $25 million a year over the next 6 or 8 years for Bay. And while we're at it, let's hope the farm system isn't going to suck the pipe with 2 top future draft choices being tossed in the shitter.
The only thing that will be missing in the end is I am guessing we will never hear those infamous words from Bob Lobel vis a vis Manny "why can't we get players like that?"
Whatever. No matter what happens, goddamn, we lost a good one. Let's just hope it doesn't bite us in the ass like ultimately letting Adam V go bit the Pats in the last Super Bowl. |
